Academic Leadership Cohort

Effective academic leadership in a classical Christian school requires more than managing curriculum, schedules, and faculty responsibilities. Academic leaders must cultivate a culture in which teachers increasingly understand, embody, and practice a distinctly classical Christian vision of education. This work is deeply formative and deeply relational. It requires leaders who can articulate a coherent philosophy of classical Christian education, mentor teachers toward excellence, foster a faculty culture of friendship and growth, and shape classrooms where wisdom and virtue—not merely information transfer—remain the central aim.

This cohort is designed for academic leaders, including principals, deans, division heads, instructional leaders, curriculum directors, and aspiring academic administrators, who desire to strengthen their leadership of faculty and deepen the classical Christian identity of their schools. Drawing primarily from SCL Standards 2—Classical—and 3—School Culture—participants will explore how academic leadership shapes pedagogy, culture, faculty development, mentorship, assessment, and the daily experience of students and teachers.

Throughout the cohort, participants will work toward developing a more unified vision of classical Christian education grounded in the liberal arts tradition and expressed through healthy faculty culture, intentional pedagogy, and missionally aligned leadership practices.
